Network Reliability Review
The Network Reliability Review includes all the features of the Network Review, plus a full analysis of Reliability and Fault Tolerance. This helps remove any doubts about implementation of fault tolerance features. We assess:
- Physical Connectivity of Devices: Are devices replicated and connected to provide effective fault tolerance?
- Failover Protocols: Are effective network protocols implemented to ensure (a) automatic detection of faults, (b) synchronization of shared application state, (b) removal of faulted network components, (c) activation of the backup network component, and (d) advertisement of the service to the network?
- Protected Services: What services are provided, and are they protected from all faults? For example: voice mail, conferencing, provisioning, ordinary voice calling, mid-call control.
- Test Results: We develop a full fault-tolerance test plan for the Service Provider network to check the protected services. We work with the SP to execute the tests, then we help analyze the results to understand fault tolerance strengths and weaknesses.
When to do it? A VoIP Network Reliability Review is performed on a live, running VoIP network. The fault-tolerance tests MAY be service affecting, and are done in a scheduled maintenance window.
