Photo of 1AESS Main Frame

An old main frame, that was used for the 1AESS; as I understand the operation, the actual copper that comes in from the Outside World runs through graphite surge protectors, and then was terminated onto this frame, until they cut over to a new frame for the new DMS switch.

The process of cutting from one frame to another is not a seamless one. We saw most of our T1s go red (indicating a loss of carrier) on the day that they cut us over. Fortunately, though, ours came back up within about a minute -- far too short a time to even report the trouble to the BellSouth Business Repair Center (BRC).
