Here is a T1 tester used for simple analysis; it's a short walk from the repeater cards shown earlier. They use it for overnight monitoring, and Mr. Cook seemed to indicate that it serves them well. This one, rack-mounted unit costs BellSouth about $5500, and can monitor four T1s concurrently.

Mr. Cook said that some of their $22000 testers were, for most tasks, no better than this unit.
