These batteries are in use, currently. They feed the toll system, which includes much of our service. An identical-looking set of batteries powers the DMS itself. They are tested under load every two weeks.Mr. Cook said that these batteries could last about eight hours. However, should the generator (shown in later pictures) fail, it would take about 12 hours to get a truck-mounted generator to Valdosta, and connected.
All power sent to the equipment is fed through the batteries, rather than coming directly from inverters; this ensures that there's no risk of failure in an electrical switch from one power source to another.
